A server is the computer where your website lives, and it never goes to sleep.
Your website has to be somewhere. Things do not just float.
It lives inside a computer that stays on all the time, in a building full of other computers that also stay on all the time. It is loud in there, and cold, and nobody colors anything.
When somebody visits your website, they are really asking that computer to hand them a copy of your page. It hands out copies all day and all night and never gets tired.
Color this: draw the building where your website sleeps. Except it never sleeps. Draw it awake at midnight.

Websites feeling placeless is exactly why people fail to treat them as property. A specific machine, in a specific building, that somebody pays for monthly, makes ownership concrete.
