Profit is the part you actually keep after you pay for everything you used.
Mia spent two dollars on lemons and cups. She sold her lemonade for five dollars.
Five dollars is not what she keeps. Two of those dollars were already spent before she sold a single cup.
She keeps three.
That is the number that matters. Not how much came in. How much stayed.
Color this: five coins in a row. Color the two that go back for lemons. Then color the three Mia gets to keep, in a different color.

Revenue is applause and profit is dinner. Children who color the two coins going back out do not grow into adults who mistake gross sales for success.
